1.  Special Olympics State Softball competitions this weekend in Oregon

The Lucas County Division 3 softball team will be playing tomorrow, September 14,  at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.  in the Special Olympics State Softball Tournament. Some 300 athletes from across Ohio will compete at the William Coontz Recreation Complex, 5398 Seaman St.,  in Oregon.  The Parade of Athletes and Opening Ceremonies begin at 8:30 a.m.

Six athletes from Lucas County will compete in the Skills Competition.  Athletes not yet ready for team play will participate in throwing, hitting, fielding, and base-running drills as part of the Individual Skills Competition.

Admission is free.

2.   Reservations can now be made for the Speakeasy Gala

You may now make reservations for the Speakeasy Gala, October 5, to raise money for a future levy campaign. While we are not ready to go for a levy now, it’s necessary to make sure the levy committee has the necessary financial resources when the time comes. The Gala, to be held at Premiere Banquet Hall, will be a night of fun, music, dancing, prizes and more. You will magically be transported to a speakeasy where we can party like its 1925.

To find out more about the Gala click on to the website, where you can also make your reservations.  And, you can also let all your Facebook friends know you are going! Click here.
